Visit of the Minister of Citizen Protection to the General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece
The General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece, in Patras, was visited on Thursday (02/11) by Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Giannis Oikonomou.
The Minister met and spoke with the General Regional Police Director and the Directors of the Directorates.
He discussed with executives and officers of the Greek Police about the work being done by the men and women of the Corps, in order to consolidate even more the sense of security in Greek society and our fellow citizens, on the basis of the new plan that will lead to a policing as as effective and substantial as possible against all forms of crime.
Mr. Oikonomou discussed with the officers of the Hellenic Police in Western Greece to deal with the difficulties that exist and explained to them the plan for more intensive and visible policing, in the services of the citizens with a view to optimizing operational actions and performance.
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Yiannis Oikonomou, stated after the meeting:
“Today I visited Patras and the General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece, where I had the opportunity to meet and talk with the local Police Directors and Officers of the Hellenic Police.
In EL.AS. constant work is being done to instill a much greater sense of security in the citizenry and to confirm together our firm will and plan to be as efficient and effective as possible against all forms of crime throughout the District.
We discussed with the Officers about the difficulties they have in order to be in the field and next to the citizen as we should, about the steps that need to be taken to strengthen our presence and I explained to them our plan – the plan of his political and physical leadership Ministry of Citizen Protection – so that with the right moves, facing the problems that exist – mainly the problems of lack of personnel which are horizontal throughout the country – we can achieve even more substantial visible policing. With specific goals, the measurement indicators of this goal, to have more integrated and more planned operational actions and of course, to discuss among ourselves better control mechanisms of this operation and performance so that we can constantly improve and respond to the demands of the citizens for better and more security.
We discussed the strengthening of buildings and logistical infrastructure, utilizing all the possibilities and tools we have both as the Greek Police and as the Greek Government as a whole”.
Among others, the General Secretary of Public Order, Mr. Manos Logothetis and the Chief of the Greek Police, Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos, participated in the meeting.
Mr. Economou met, at the same time, with representatives of POAXIA, POASY, Civil Servants and the Union of Refugees.
