The opinion that “the government’s proposal does not correspond to the daily life of freelancers” and that solutions are needed that “will belong to the 21st century” was expressed by the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, during the meeting he had today with presidents of its scientific associations country, commenting on the new tax bill.

“The government promotes a “horizontal measure which also taxes honest freelancers, which is the great majority, together with those who do not comply. We cannot approach this problem by looking only at the side effect”, pointed out the president of SYRIZA – PS, speaking to the representatives of the agencies, to add: “My opinion about the government’s proposal is that it does not correspond to the daily life of freelancers and that it greatly penalizes young people, who are starting in the fields in which you work.”

Using the legal sector as an example, Stefanos Kasselakis pointed out that “the digital presence of lawyers in the courts is not yet a reality in Greece, but at the same time gasoline is expensive and the costs are high. “Well, these people who run to represent their clients, starting their careers, are actually punished by their everyday lives.” Faced with this reality, “the government’s solution is a horizontal measure, on the basis that no one declares the reality”, he noted, adding that “a country cannot rely on such treatment of the citizen” to add: “They do not understand that freelancers take risks for their work every day and not everyone can have the same results.”

“The resources of the Recovery Fund intended for you are minimal, while the resources that go to the big ones are very many”, underlined Mr. Kasselakis, speaking of ” fiscal arrogance» of Kyriakos Mitsotakis which has its base at 41% last May, but as he said, it is about “unfair” measures that don’t work for a simple freelancer trying to stand on his own two feet with honesty.

He even emphasized the need for the country’s tax system to take advantage of the new instruments that exist in other European countries and to start this debate anew.

She also added that “new proposals” are needed, stating that as an opposition officer she will try to highlight “alternative solutions”, listening to the freelancers themselves.

Finally, referring to the “prehistory” of SYRIZA, which was “tough” for freelancers, due to the memorandums, he assured his interlocutors that “times have changed” and that with the new data, the goal is for “there is a diffusion of development” and support for all Greek citizens who want to build their careers within the country instead of going abroad because they are “punished” by the system.

We must “create virtuous circles, instead of vicious circles”, stressed the president of SYRIZA – PS, to conclude: “We want to find solutions that belong to the 21st century, to respond to the reality and the daily life that every freelancer lives ».
