“The New Democracy government, after grabbing the vote of pensioners by promising to repeal the Katrougalos law, not only adopted it but continues even further,” said Giorgos Mulkiotis
An attack on the government on the issue of retirement age limits unleashed the PASOK-KINALon the occasion of the statements of the Deputy Minister of Social Insurance Panos Tsakloglou on the retirement age limits.
“Her government New Republicafter grabbing the pensioners’ vote by promising to repeal the Katrougalos law, the law that overnight increased the retirement age by 10-15 years, he not only adopted it but continues even further,” said Giorgos Moulkiotis, head of KTE Labor and Social Security of PASOK.
He noted that “the statements of the competent deputy minister about the “inevitable increase in age limits from 2027″ reveals yet another aspect of the government’s anti-social policy”.
Mr. Mulkiotis stated that the government “with Law 4670/2020 assured the Greek Parliament and society that the sustainability of the insurance system – taking into account all the negative demographic projections – is guaranteed until 2070” and “one year later – again with the threat of the demographic – legislated the gradual abolition of supplementary pensions and the complete privatization of supplementary insurance (with huge financial costs that will be borne by Greek society)” and added:
“Now, the deputy minister of the government of “multipotent modernization”, Mr. P. Tsakloglouonce again pointing out the danger of the demographic problem, contradicts the previous assurances of the government itself and reopens the debate on yet another increase in the retirement age limits.
“Political ineptitude? Neoliberalism? Both?”, pointed out Mr. Mulkiotis, underlining that PASOK-KINAL “rejects any such discussion”.
“Age limits are already high and pensions very low. And while the SYRIZA and New Democracy laws mature, pensions and the purchasing power of retirees will decrease further,” he stressed.
