“We cannot open a pillow issue to the well-seated – We must do everything possible to prevent such a real possibility, to do much worse in the European elections”
A civil war has been raging in SYRIZA lately, he emphasized through SKAI and the Incongruous Yannis Ragousis. The executive of SYRIZA asked him Stefanos Kasselakis to do everything possible to ensure that there are no new departures, essentially warning of the danger of “two SYRIZA” in the Parliament and of the electoral retreat of the party.
“We cannot open a pillow issue in the good seats” noted Mr. Ragousis, while declaring that if MPs and executives leave, “this will be the result of everything that has taken place in the last period”.
In particular, regarding the meetings of Mr. Tsipras with Mr. Sakellaridis on Tuesday and with Mr. Kasselakis on Wednesday, Mr. Ragousis commented on the report of sources close to the former president about the need to observe the SYRIZA statutes. As he said, there is no other way to escape from the evils that have existed and will exist before us. “Why are we going to a conference, there will be various issues, all of which must be resolved, and I think it is absolutely correct what Alexis Tsipras says, if he really said so, that there is no other way than to faithfully observe the statute.”
He made it clear that the possibility of MPs leaving SYRIZA and forming a Parliamentary Group is very negative. “Just to make an image in the Parliament that on the one hand there is a KO official opposition SYRIZA with Mr. Famellos as president at the moment, and on the other hand there is another KO of executives identified with SYRIZA,for three, three and a half years I think it’s going to be a very big problem there’s no doubt” he reported.
“That’s why I, personally, already from Monday, (in the so-called) “that it’s a new day because the Umbrella is gone etc” did the opposite… I tried to ground us and ask Stefanos Kasselakis to do everything possible so that we don’t have this new round of departures that can lead to this scenario.”
“I don’t want them to leave, and I believe that everything possible must be done so that they do not leave until the last moment, but I know and I tell you this very clearly, I take responsibility for what I will say, that they had not predecided to leave, if they did. So if the non-genoto leaves, that will be the result of everything that has been mediated in the last period” he pointed out.
It is an objective reality that the period of time to be judged is short, Mr. Kasselakis clarified. I will not mince my words, said Yannis Ragousis anyway, there is a civil war going on within SYRIZA for the last one to one and a half months. “Some of us chose not to take part in this civil war, and that is why, for example, until the meeting of the KE that “Umbrella” left, we had not given any television or radio interviews.”
First, said the SYRIZA executive, this civil war must stop at all costs. Secondly, I think that it will in no way justify those who had the idea that if some people leave SYRIZA, it will be for the good of SYRIZA and I am not talking only about individual cases, I am talking about whole collectives, groups of executives whole. “This exhortation “whoever is to leave, leave, the door is open, whoever does not agree to leave” what did he exude? He exuded a perception that this might also be for the good of SYRIZA. However, if the polls come out tomorrow and the party will be much worse in the public opinion crisis, then I think that those who pushed things towards the split will have assumed a great deal of political responsibility.
“Mr. Kasselakis is right when he says that we must get out of the logic of introversion, but in order to get out of the state of introversion, we cannot open a pillow issue to the well-seated. Mr. Kasselakis will find this statement in front of him all the time and is the cornerstone of the governmental success of the Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA administration. Because he will always find it in front of him, he must restore the historical truth that the pillow led to the country’s exit from the memorandums and this was really a huge achievement of the SYRIZA and Alexis Tsipras government.”
Asked if the election of Kasselakis is disputed, Mr. Ragousis clarified that “certainly this cannot be disputed by anyone for the current president of SYRIZA. He has been democratically elected absolutely correctly for a full term.”
Responding to Mr. Kasselakis who said that he received a sick official opposition he repeated that the president of SYRIZA at least received an official opposition “and I hope that when the time comes, whenever the citizens judge, the members of SYRIZA will certainly not deliver a former official opposition, a one-digit opposition and politically dead”.
“My message is that it takes a lot of work, we’re not doing well, and it takes a lot of work to reverse the course we’re on.” noted Mr. Ragousis.
