The prime minister had the opportunity to be informed by the regional governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, about the new facilities of the port, which is the starting point par excellence for the Sporades. He was informed about the new projects with which the existing infrastructure was completed, which increase the possibility of serving ships and passengers and much more open the horizon even for cruise ships.
According to the governor of Central Greece, the project has a budget of 9.8 million euros and is financed by the Public Investment Program implemented by the Region of Central Greece.
The expansion of the existing land area by 3,745 sq.m. has brought a “facelift” to the port facilities as a whole. and thus the new port will have an area of ​​6,815 sq.m. after new quays were created, greater depth, the existing quay was extended and a new wharf was built, perpendicular to the quay, with the aim of creating a protected port basin from the north swell.
Now the total capacity of the port is to have the possibility of mooring two hydrofoils up to 35 m long and stern mooring of two ferry vessels up to 100 m long, while at the same time berthing positions are increasing.
As the Prime Minister was informed, Agios Konstantinos for the first time with the specific projects acquires the ability to serve small and medium cruise ships and aspires to be used for their passengers, for access to nearby areas of great interest such as Delphi and Thermopylae .
At the same time, the conditions of protection and benefits in the neighboring fishing shelter, which is an important project for the local community, were also improved.
