A day of mourning and hope was spoken of by independent – now – MP Sia Anagnostopoulou after her departure from SYRIZA with the rest of Efi Ahtsioglou’s group.

In particular, speaking to the Peloponnisos FM 104.1 radio station, he characteristically stated that “today is a day of mourning and hope, no one leaves their home easily and at the same time a day of hope to leave a climate of civil war”.

The entire statement of the former deputy minister and MP of Achaia:

“Despite the efforts made, at least from my side, it was not possible to continue in SYRIZA. The leadership paid no attention to stop the civil war atmosphere in the party. The focal point for me was the Central Committee. It was the discrediting of what we consider the Left. The entire Left collapsed before my eyes that day. I cannot serve something that no longer exists in my party. Let me clarify that I am not a member of any group as it is called. Neither in Umbrella, nor in Ahtsioglou, nor in 6+6, etc. It is a day of mourning. No one leaves home easily. However, it is also a day of hope to escape from the climate of civil war and toxicity. All my life I have walked as a Leftist, progressive person. Within SYRIZA they remain dear comrades. I’m not going to knock on my house. Our opponent is the Right. I think we will have rearrangements and developments. The country cannot remain without a strong Center-Left front. We will fight so that a serious program is created, away from toxicity, against this hegemony of the New Democracy”.

Asked if she will hand over her seat, Sia Anagnostopoulou replied that “I was elected with a certain SYRIZA led by Alexis Tsipras, we fought battles together. I did not move an inch from this SYRIZA. Therefore, I will not surrender my headquarters. On the Left, the seats are meterial for fighting. We don’t take a seat to take to another party for a personal career.”
