“The government is unable to give answers to the citizens, as well as accurately. So we need a strong opposition that puts up a “line of defense” against the government’s policies and makes proposals”, said the president of the SYRIZA PS Committee, Sokratis Famellos, in an interview with Mega, arguing that “withdrawals are not good for official opposition because they weaken it, nor in society since its role is to defend the interests of society”.

He described the discussion at the Political Secretariat yesterday as interesting and productive, while he referred to today’s meeting of the Committee of the Regions which is convened to discuss the budget, the tax bill and the red loans. “We are also preparing for our Congress that will take place in February, a very important Congress where we will decide what party and what policies we want, what will be our proposal to society,” he added, “so the schedule remains as we have agreed.” .

He mentioned, among other things, that “Stefanos Kasselakis also made a criticism about the height and not the necessity of the “cushion”, a discussion that “does not question the “cushion”. “I am currently criticizing Euclid Tsakalotos, and the other executives who left, not of course for the “cushion”, but because he left SYRIZA-PS without having gone to the Congress together to discuss politics and to express the any disagreements,” he said, adding that “with his departure, he weakened the official opposition.” He said that the eleven who left “were elected with SYRIZA-PS, by votes of SYRIZA-PS and now form a Parliamentary Group against SYRIZA-PS”, to emphasize that “we have the responsibility to honor the vote of the citizens and the role of opposition officer they gave us”.

He emphasized that “it will not change what we have to do in SYRIZA-PS, which is an opposition to the Mitsotakis government and the formation of an alternative government proposal”. Asked to comment on the polls, he said that “our priority is a party that does its best for the citizens and then for its percentages.” He commented that “polls are of course an image of the moment. I don’t think anyone expected at this point in time, with such intense internal party problems, that SYRIZA-PS would do well in the polls. Above all, it is to serve the needs of society and not our own existence as a party”.

Mr. Famellos criticized the government saying that “Mr. Mitsotakis is responsible both for the price increase and for his choice not to tax the surplus profits, but also for the state participating in this filthy lucre since it participates with significant percentage in Hellenic Petroleum and therefore in the profitability of the Group”.

He also expressed the party’s direct opposition to the transfer of the National Observatory to the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, “a choice that attempts to harm the independence of the research body”.

He spoke of “serious data that show that democracy is being underestimated under the Mitsotakis government”, commenting: “How safe can one feel in a country where the head of the Army has been monitored for over a year…”.
