The head of the new Parliamentary Group of 11 stated that many executives, current or former, of SYRIZA will support the new effort – Tomorrow the name of the group
An all-out attack on Stefanos Kasselakis for the reasons that pushed him and 10 other MPs to leave SYRIZA, launched Alexis Haritsis, speaking on Sunday morning to ANT1.
Referring to the reasons for leaving SYRIZA, Mr. Haritsis, who will be the head of the new Parliamentary Group formed by the 11 former SYRIZA MPs, turned against the new President of the party, saying that “and the style and ethos (of Stefanos Kasselakis) played a decisive role in the split decisions.” It has to do with how you manage a party, how you appeal to society… The “Messiah” and addresses the people directly. It is also an issue for the political content message that is being broadcast.”
“We have been in SYRIZA since we were born, we have fought battles and this was our home. It was not an easy decision to leave our home. The decision was painful politically, of course, and on a personal level, precisely because we have this entire route in this particular area”, pointed out Alexis Haritsis.
As he added, “we left because we could not see the degeneration of the place anymore. We’ve been seeing one lately depreciation. We had to defend our heritage and what we achieved in previous years.”
Asked if there is any communication between “11” and other executives who remain or left him SYRIZAlike Mr. Filis, Skourletis and Tzoumakas, Alexis Haritsis said that there is communication with many executives and many of them will support the new effort which begins with the formation of a parliamentary group.
Tomorrow the name of the new parliamentary group
Alexis Haritsis however pointed out that “more important is the future. It is important that we present a plan that the country needs and this cannot be done today in SYRIZA”, while he emphasized that through the new Parliamentary Group “tomorrow we will present our Parliamentary Group. We will have a name with a political content. There is much debate about the name, it certainly has a symbolism, but it is the content that matters. It doesn’t matter what your name is, but what you say. That’s the major thing. We will have a political sign and that is the Left. Our ambition is to address all progressive citizens. I feel there are many who are politically homeless. We will give our identity, our political proposals. We want to exercise structural opposition in New Democracy, because this is absent from the political scene.”
“We must proceed without haste. The first step is the formation of a Parliamentary Group and then everything will be done as it should be. It is not a simple matter to build a party”, said Mr. Haritsis, adding that “parliamentary presence and contact and communication with society is important for us”.
