We cannot not discuss the issues that concern us, not to submit our opinion, not to participate in a reflection that concerns society, said ND MP Kostas Karagounis, speaking to SKAI and the “Today” show, regarding the amendment on immigrants.

He noted that if the amendment had come on time we would have reached better conclusions, while he added that his goal is not to create a problem for the faction.

The government is not used to being surprised, but in this particular case it was, as he said.

On the grounds of disagreement, he said that there are objections regarding Article 4, as the conditions contained in it give the possibility of a residence permit on very flexible terms, while there should be a much clearer framework.

“A residence permit is granted with much more relaxed criteria, while the framework for examining the granting of a residence permit should be tightened for those who entered the country illegally, some are criminal elements” as he said and added: “65% of them are within the penitentiaries are foreigners, it is a concrete reality.”

Regarding the intervention, Samara said that “it does not create any problems for the government, it states its opinion, it has an opinion and it repeats that opinion. Obviously he has the right to speak his mind.”

Finally, regarding the discussion on the marriage of same-sex couples, he commented that “the framework that exists is sufficient, we will have a very extensive discussion”.
