A special permit was granted to Ilias Kassidiaris by the public prosecutor’s office of Lamia to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new administrative authority of the municipality of Athens next Thursday, December 28.

As broadcast in the evening news of SKAI Ilias Kasidiaris, convicted of running a criminal organization, will receive a short leave of absence in order to, accompanied by police officers to swear in a municipal councilor at the ceremony that will take place in Kypseli Municipal Market.

According to the permission of the Prosecutor’s Office, he will return the same day to the Domoko prison where he is being held. At the same time, information states that his has been declared that in the event that he makes a provocative statement, during the swearing-in, then the five-day leave that has been approved since December 30 will be revoked.

It is recalled that Ilias Kasidiaris, who has been sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for running a criminal organization, he had run for mayor of Athens in the local elections of October, when he was elected councilor in the new municipal council.

The Multi-member Court of First Instance of Athens, by its decision last September, had validated the candidacy of the convicted Kasidiaris – despite the attempts to exclude him – for participation in the local elections of October, interpreting the current legislation.

Something similar happened in 2014 during the mayorship of Giorgos Kamina, when Ilias Kasidiaris was sworn in as a municipal councilor while he was in pre-trial detention for the Golden Dawn case. At that time, he had arrived at the auditorium of Radio Station 9.84 in Gazi with a police escort.
