The arrival of the new year will not be about the typical renewal of the calendar. It will be about broadening and renewing our approach to national security. This is emphasized, among other things, by the minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, in his Agenda for the new year.

Referring to the personnel of the Armed Forces, he wished health, progress, prosperity and achievement of goals.

“We are,” he said, “obliged to evolve. To change. To adapt to modern data. To promote the growth of our capabilities. To expand our horizon. To prevent any potential plotting. Every challenge. Every threat. Those that emerge on the horizon of our wider region. And those arising from the use of new technologies”.

“The driving force of development, of change, is you, the women and men of the Armed Forces of Greece. You are a condition and a guarantee of success in the new endeavor. Collective effort. A national effort,” he added.

Speaking of the women and men of the Armed Forces, expressed his gratitude “for the dedication and professionalism at a price, unfortunately, in some cases, the very lives of your colleagues. In time of peace”.

“I would like,” he continued, “to express my respect for your commitment to the sacred duty of defending our territorial integrity. Of our non-negotiable national sovereignty”.

“I invite you to continue your work. As guardians of the Greek territory, as supporters of the Greek society in every difficulty. The Greek people are looking to you” concludes Mr. Dendias in his Order of the Day.
