For the fifth time, Michalis Chrysochoidis takes over the leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection after the mini reshuffle announced today.

Mr. Chrysochoidis moves from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Citizen Protection, replacing Yiannis Oikonomou.

Michalis Chrysochoidis, who has associated his name with the dismantling of three terrorist organizations in the country, of 17N in 2002, of ELA ealso in 2002 and the Revolutionary Struggle in 2010 as Minister of Public Order in the government of Kostas Simitis has before him the difficult task of implementing the measures against fan violence that have been announced.

Mr. Chrysochoidis assumed a position in a government structure for the first time under Andreas Papandreou, in the position of Deputy Minister of Trade (1994-1996), then Deputy Minister of Development in the Simitis government (1996-1999) and for the first time he assumed the position of Minister of Public Order from 1999 to 2003.

In 2009, he again took over as head of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, formerly the Ministry of Public Order.

In the government of George Papandreou, Michalis Chrysochoidis took over in September 2010 Ministry of Development, Competitiveness and Shipping to return on March 7, 2012 Ministry of Citizen Protection for a short period of time.

On July 8, 2019was appointed as extra-parliamentary head of the Ministry of Citizen Protection in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis until 2021.
