Issues related to the sovereignty of the country will never be discussed or revised, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis speaking to SKAI and the show Kalimera with Giorgos Autias.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that no politician will ever raise issues concerning the national sovereignty of the country, while regarding the Treaty of Lausanne he said that “the question of amendment does not exist and will never exist. It is a sacred, solid legal foundation for us. Issues of sovereignty have not been raised, nor will they ever be raised,” he said characteristically.

He added that there is no room for partisan exploitation on these issues.

For the Mitsotakis-Blinken meeting in the afternoon in Chania, the foreign minister emphasized that he will focus on bilateral relations, on open issues of energy and defense cooperation.

As he said, the issue of the F-35 will also be raised, for which he said that “I think we will have positive developments”.

“The strengthening of the armed forces also strengthened foreign policy. The country is gaining special weight, the upgrading of the armed forces is an important issue. There is a request for inclusion in the F-35 program, I think we will have positive developments,” he said.

He added: “We understand that we do not determine how American diplomacy renders its defense assistance to other countries, what we demand is that within the framework of the defense alliance, within the framework of NATO, the rule of integrity is respected. No equipment to be used against an ally of a country.”
