The strategy of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports for the participation of children from third countries in the Greek education system was presented by Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis at today’s inter-ministerial working meeting at the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum with the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson present.
“The integration of third-country citizen children into the Greek education system and the formation of a safe, inclusive learning environment is a key concern of the Greek State and the Ministry of Internal Affairs” Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized and revealed that “in addition, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry Immigration and Asylum and with EU co-funding, the ‘All Children in Education’ program is underway, supporting over 22,000 refugee children to access public schools.”
“At the interministerial working meeting held at the Ministry of Migration & Asylum in the presence of European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, we presented the strategy of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports for the participation of children from third countries in education.
The integration of third country citizen children in the Greek education system and the formation of a safe, inclusive learning environment is a key concern of the Greek State and the Ministry of Finance.
We implement educational programs for the integration of refugee children in public schools, with Reception Classes of Educational Priority Zones and Refugee Education Reception Structures, emphasizing the training of the teachers who participate in these programs.
In addition, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and with EU co-funding, the “All Children in Education” program is underway, supporting over 22,000 refugee children to access public schools.
