The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, will travel tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, to Riyadh, where he will have a bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

Discussions will focus on issues of bilateral political and economic relations, as well as developments in the Middle East.

In his statement from Armenia, where he visited, the Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the Middle East, unfortunately, is still going through a major crisis, which is now reaching the level of a humanitarian crisis, and he said: “Greece from the first moment stood in level of principles with International Law, with the need to have humanitarian corridors, with the need to avoid casualties among the civilian population. Greece will still offer its services today. And he will offer them because thanks to the reliable foreign policy he has developed, today we can talk with prestige and credibility with all international players and also with the parties involved.

He also emphasized that the Middle East, which is currently in a burning situation, with the risk of flare-ups in other areas, beyond Israel and Palestine, should be our first priority, adding: “And priority, which will lead to a solution, which will be fair and sustainable. A solution, which will be based on the decisions of the Security Council of the United Nations Organization and which will ensure the well-being of all the peoples of the region”.
