The SYRIZA-PS Parliamentary Group will vote in favor of the bill for same-sex couples and, in fact, party discipline will be imposed, as the president of SYRIZA assured a while ago, Stefanos Kasselakis in an interview he is currently giving to Star Channel.

The president of SYRIZA commented negatively on the prime minister’s appeal to his dissident MPs to abstain and called it an “act of political cowardice” not to impose party discipline on a human rights issue.

“SYRIZA does not play with human rights. SYRIZA is never going to stand against social progress“, he characteristically said, however, he noted that “we have not yet seen a single word” of the bill in question and that it is “incomplete” based on what the prime minister said in yesterday’s interview.

He referred to the proposal that SYRIZA has already submitted, saying that it has differences with the proposal that is expected to be brought by the government, however, he emphasized that SYRIZA will vote for the bill and in fact imposing party discipline.

He also accused Kyriakos Mitsotakis of “using his name” on the surrogacy issue in order to “promote the proposal to his far-right, party audience”, adding that the “phraseology” he used about these women ” he does not respect him”.

Besides, he noted that “it is not selfish” what SYRIZA brings as a proposal, but “altruistic” and for the “good of society”.
