“The government wants to eliminate from the public debate the discussion about the real problems, such as accuracy, blind violence and the general insecurity that citizens feel”
“The measures for baby milk, which the government announced are a drop in the ocean, will actually be activated from March. THE government gives the time to those who profiteer long to prepare their defenses and overcome the small hurdle of establishing a ceiling on the profit margin. Because when it came down to it, there was only one solution: the imposition of devaluation and zero VAT for baby milk, which is a basic necessity” emphasized the Parliamentary Representative of PASOK – Movement for Change, Michalis Katrinisspeaking in Parliament.
He pointed out that the government wants to eliminate from the public debate the discussion of the real problems, such as accuracy, blind violence and the general insecurity that citizens feel.
Referring to the television interview of the Prime Minister, Mr. Katrinis commented on the same-sex marriage and procreation bill:
“Instead of fishing in murky waters, let’s raise the issue of party discipline Mr. Mitsotakis to his MPs to get the government’s legislative initiative upvoted. And of course he shouldn’t ask PASOK or the other parties to make it easier for him to solve his internal problems. As far as the structural changes in family law are concerned, these have the seal of the governments of PASOK and A. Papandreou. We do not accept lessons from Mr. Mitsotakis and the faction, which we all remember what he did in the cohabitation agreement, the faction that had flagged the inscription of religion on identity cards, signed for referendums and when it became the government did nothing. Because this is how the ND always approaches the issue of individual rights and personal freedoms, with voter-hunting criteria”
For the Prime Minister’s reports on Greek-Turkish Mr. Katrinis emphasized:
“The Prime Minister told us that we are not as far from The Hague for our differences with Turkey as we were a year ago. And we are entitled to ask from the floor of the Parliament exactly which issues will be referred to The Hague. Can someone answer us? Because until today, the fixed position of our foreign policy is that the only issue that can be referred to The Hague, as a Greek-Turkish dispute, is the delimitation of the continental shelf and the EEZ. The only issue and not the core of the difference, as Mr. Mitsotakis said who described the issue of the continental shelf as difficult and that “the geography in the Aegean makes it even more complicated”. It is not difficult or complicated when the International Law of the Sea is the guide, which has clear provisions. Unless the Greek government renounces the jurisdiction of the Law of the Sea in the Aegean”.
Michalis Katrinis, closed his speech, stressing:
“Everything that this country is experiencing is now connected to a crisis of institutions, to the questioning and the attempt to manipulate independent authorities and justice. PASOK stands against these choices, these practices. It is the core of a democratic progressive majority that certainly exists and seeks expression. However, the political expression of this new democratic and progressive majority will not be done in terms of populism. It will be based on credibility, program proposals, a new governance proposal, a new model of style and ethos of power.”
