In the next few days, the blood donor card, the academic status, but the professional qualities (doctor, notary, etc.) will be added to the gov wallet, said the Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou in his radio interview on Real fm. “We are digitizing all existing registers in view of an important reform, which is the personal number,” he said.
Regarding artificial intelligence, Mr. Papastergiou emphasized that “the Greek government has shown a huge interest in how we will be able to incorporate pieces of artificial intelligence into our lives. There are privileged areas such as health, justice, tax policy, citizen service, as they are cases where we can immediately start working on models to make our lives easier. All this comes in a more digital and more transparent Public as corruption is the daughter of bureaucracy”.
In the meantime, the minister also spoke about the project regarding broadband in schools: “It is a project that we are planning to “run” immediately, it is a first step to move into a new era and all these tools are available in schools”.
Mr. Papastergiou underlined that three funded digitization programs are “running” for the Municipalities “who have chosen by themselves applications and solutions that fit the needs of whether they are small or large Municipalities, mountainous or island ones, in order to utilize the this money in the best way, to provide solutions to citizens’ problems”.
Finally, the minister pointed out that “digitalization is not simply taking existing processes and turning them into something digital. What will happen in 2024 is that we won’t even be sending digital certificates because that too could be considered digital paperwork. But an acceptance of us to be able to proceed with a case of ours in the State”.
