“Some people who instigate these mobilizations in Greece invoke what is happening in Germany and urge the agricultural world of our country to follow the example of Germany”, the Minister of Rural Development and Food told SKAI and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias Lefteris Avgenakis.

Mr. Avgenakis argued that “in Germany, they are demanding the non-abolition of the return of the special oil tax to farmers by profession. Last year and this year we have distributed 160 million euros to 295,000 professional farmers. They claim the reduction of VAT on basic agricultural products. In Greece, this already applies when we passed the provision 2.5 months ago and it went from 24% to 13%. In Germany they claim the reduction of the taxation of the profits derived from cooperative schemes. This is true in Greece. It was an initiative of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis where we have a 50% reduction in tax on profits for farmers who participate in cooperative schemes”.

“At the Ministry of Rural Development, we have made an effort to communicate a sincere dialogue with the people of the primary sector. This dialogue will continue. We have nothing to hide. The people of the primary sector, farmers, fishermen, beekeepers and breeders have a house. And this is the Ministry of Rural Development. We are all on their side and we only serve them.”

“The instigators of the mobilizations in the majority of them have a party color and we know them”, emphasized Mr. Avgenakis.
