On Sunday morning, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, spoke about the new measures at the stadiums, with the installation of cameras and identification, as well as the reopening of the OAKA.

In an interview he granted to ERT, Mr. Vroutsis stated that tomorrow he will announce the timetable and the dates when the operation of the cameras and identification will be implemented. “Any stadium that does not have support from that date onwards, the next matchday will be closed,” he said, reiterating that the fines for offenders will be exorbitant.

“Within the law, the exact points (where the cameras will be placed) are described because a PAE cannot see only one door,” he said characteristically.

On the sad anniversary of the completion of two years since the murder of Alkis Kampanos, Mr. Vroutsis referred to the measures that the State will take. One of them is that “anyone who does not have a mobile phone will not enter the stadium”, while as he said young sports fans under the age of 15 will come to the stadiums accompanied by their parents.

We don’t want to close the links

“The State has legislated. We are waiting for the institutional actors to bring proposals” Mr. Vroutsis added on the issue of fan violence. Referring to the links, he emphasized that the aim of the ministry is not to close them. “We do not close unions. We recognize only one club that will be affiliated with PAE. Each PAE will be associated with only one club,” he added. And as he pointed out, the goal is to upgrade the sports clubs.
