The president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, addressed an open invitation for post-election cooperation to KINAL, speaking earlier on SKAI, on the show “Unmatched” with journalists Giannis Ntsounos and Christos Koutras.
“Our front is Mitsotakis, I have stated it from the first moment, I am open to cooperation,” said Mr. Tsipras.
At the same time, he called Mr. Mitsotakis “manager of the disaster” referring to the pandemic, while he invited him to a televised duel on SKAI.
He described the staff state as a joke and stressed that if SYRIZA takes over the government of the country, it will renationalize PPC and critical state structures.
Asked about him Pavlos PolakisMr. Tsipras clarified that he strongly disagrees with the views expressed by him and other executives, but stressed that in SYRIZA all views are acceptable.
He once again admitted that under SYRIZA rule “We unjustly and disproportionately burdened the middle class and paid for it,” he added, however, adding that we were taking the country out of the memoranda, settling the debt and supporting the weak.
In more detail, the interview began with reports in the media: “When you invite me I come. “I was a little late, but there was never a choice not to come,” he said, commenting that he has enough time to appear on SKAI.
He noted for SKAI that he considers that he has a strong opinion, but it is his right, as he said. “Almost all stations have a discriminatory attitude,” he added, “there is no other point of view,” Tsipras continued.
SKAI has chosen to say that it has an identity and it is its right, he repeated.
The problem in the country is that there is a deficit of pluralism, I do not charge it to you, it is a big debate about where it is charged, he said.
Accuracy: We would not proceed with the privatization of PPC
Asked about the accuracy, he noted that no institutional interventions were made: “We would not proceed with the privatization of PPC in the midst of an energy crisis,” he said. The way of management is wrong, he said characteristically.
Asked if PPC will be nationalized in case SYRIZA re-enters the government, he replied that in such a case PPC will regain D (publicly) in its operation, there would be an order to “freeze” the tariffs.
Regarding the government’s stance, he said: “The government has a perception of how the economy works.” We let the market self-regulate and the state does not intervene. This is Mitsotaki’s perception, but I do not know if it is the Right’s perception, because a part of ND does not embrace this perception.
In the pandemic, cosmogenic changes took place, it became clear that the market could not function without state intervention, which could lead to a rupture of the social fabric.
Minimum wage
Regarding the increase of the minimum wage, he said that it is not Mr. Mitsotakis who does not want it, but a lobby of strong businessmen who are oriented towards the increase of the profit and the reduction of the wage cost.
“Obviously I will support raising the minimum to 800 euros, if the government decides,” he said.
“What I am saying is that any tax relief is welcome, but what the government gives is very little and for a few,” added the president of SYRIZA, and continued:
“We as a government in the summer of 2019 did not manage to proceed with reliefs. The average citizen did not have time to see a change in his pocket, he said and added:
«We unjustly and disproportionately burdened the middle class and paid for iton the other hand we were taking the country out of the memoranda, we settled the debt, we supported the weak».
Elections and post-election cooperation
I called for elections in the debate on the budget vote, right after the revelation about the Tsiodra-Lytra investigation, which refuted the prime minister’s reports that it is the same to be treated inside and outside the ICU, said Mr. Tsipras when asked what he changed and asked elections.
We call for elections because we want to protect human life, social cohesion. It was a pivotal shift of the prime minister in the management of the pandemic from the prime minister we are living in, he said.
The government has completely failed to manage the pandemic, it is the manager of the disaster, it has a great inability to manage it, he said.
Regarding the possibility post-election cooperation appeared open for cooperation with KINAL and Nikos Androulakis. A number of European countries are governed by simple analog systems and co-operative governments, he said.
“In this context, this can be done in Greece as well, the dividing line is on the one hand that proposes the domination of the markets and on the other the policy that wants a strong human welfare state. “The second view is expressed by the progressive forces,” he said characteristically.
Collaboration with KINAL
He added that he is not worried about the rise of KINAL and noted: “Our front is Mitsotakis, I have stated it from the first moment, I am open to cooperation.”
Asked about Polaki’s statements, he clarified that he does not agree with the views he expresses, however he said that SYRIZA is an open democratic party and all views are heard.
“Many of my comrades have the view that in order to face a corrupt state, you have to set up appropriate mechanisms. I completely disagree. This is the opponent’s court. “No, this view does not express me,” he said characteristically.
TV duel with Mitsotaki
Asked why Mr. Polakis remains in SYRIZA, he replied that “all views will be heard, SYRIZA is a democratic party”, while he called on the Prime Minister to discuss “here, at your station”.
