The positions of party leaders ahead of the vote on same-sex marriage on February 15
By Yannis Anifantis
Chaos reigns among parties on the right of the ND regarding the roll call vote on the marriage of same-sex coupleswith the lot eventually falling to one alliance between Nike and the Spartans.
“We want three more Greeks. Three patriots”emphasized from the floor of the Parliament, o Kyriakos Velopoulos, arguing that the Hellenic Solution submits a motion to request a roll-call vote without the party’s logo, calling on those MPs who do not want to support the bill to sign. “Come to the line of reason. Come to the line of rationality. But don’t do me the trick, as I hear some presidents who are very short of the circumstances, saying that we will also testify ourselves”, emphasized the party president, with the information up to that time converging that Niki MPs will co-signed the request of K. Velopoulos. It is reminded that in order to file a request for a roll call vote, the signatures of 15 MPs are required, with the Hellenic Solution’s K.O numbering 12.
Ascending the step, o Dimitris Natsios confirmed the good climate between Niki and Hellenic Solution, stating characteristically: “Already yesterday, Niki stated in the competent committee that she wishes to have a roll call vote and will submit the relevant request. It does not have 15 MPs. We propose to all the political parties that are against to submit in a joint document the request without a party title, hegemonic mood and sensationalism”.
However, the climate changed drasticallywhen the parliamentary representative of the Hellenic Solution took the floor to answer Kostas Chitas, commenting in a strong tone: “The ten commandments say theft, but you, although you claim to be a Christian, don’t know it. You retreated from the Greek Solution. K. Velopoulos announced that he will submit a proposal. Coming after 36 hours and saying that we will also testify shows that you are not interested in Greece but only in your party. Because we are interested in Greece, that’s why we took out the logo. The roll call application will be submitted on Wednesday. So why the time rush? It is very small minded politically. Political. We leave you to the judgment of the Greek voters. We, as good Christians, sleep soundly at night.”
The attack of the parliamentary representative did not go unanswered with Dimitris Natsios to take the floor again: “That’s exactly what I said in my speech. Amazing things are happening. I know the New Testament better than you. The ‘you steal’ is from the Old Testament and not the New as you said. In the New it is ‘judge not lest ye be judged’. But what we constantly hear from you is the depreciation, the reduction. You keep calling me teacher. Everything you said doesn’t stand. We submit our proposal without a stamp. We will see the development. We don’t care about first second third, black cat, red cat, yellow cat, we care about catching mice they say.”
And while the partnership was wreckedanother one, hers Victory – Spartans, emerged quickly in the plenary hall with the parliamentary representative of the Spartans Th. Chalkias appearing positive to the proposal of the president of Niki: “In the call made by Mr. Natsios, the Spartans since he invited all the parties, while others said we invite all the parties other than the Lacedaemonians, we will stand by them. Finally, all of us should distinguish our positions, not say different things and vote different things. Everyone will get what they deserve.”
With the “yes” of the Spartans, Dimitris Natsios’ request for a roll call vote gathers 20 signatures and the next step will be to be accepted by the plenary at the start of the debate on the passing of the bill next Wednesday, February 14.
