The stance he will take on the passage of the bill for the marriage of same-sex couples was reiterated from the floor of the Parliament by ND MP Thanos Pleurisphotographing how he will abstain from tomorrow’s (Thursday) vote.

I cannot vote for the specific provisions, but I will choose attitude that
that no one can take advantage of my disagreement for petty political reasons”, the ND deputy emphasized in his statement, adding that it is “a matter of conscience and the matter of conscience is how you yourself perceive your political role”.

Th. Pleuris argued that this is a social issue that concerns a lot of peopleemphasizing that he decided that he should express his disagreement “disagreement of principle and not delusion”. He even commented on yesterday’s statements by the president of Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, who called on the members of parliament to say if they are gay, stressing that it is not possible for these to be heard in the Greek parliament. “We will not give this disagreement to the extremists,” added the blue MP, pointing out that it is more homophobic to disagree with childbearing than with marriage. “Mine is valuable. I disagree with the principle of the standard of family and marriage and yes, there is no constitutional issue”, he repeated characteristically, stating that today’s process is important for the New Democracy, as it is an advantage and not a disadvantage, as the opposition believes, calling on the dissenting PASOK and SYRIZA MPs to take their positions from the floor of the Parliament.
