In his speech at an event of the prefectural committee of Heraklion, Crete, Mr. Androulakis spoke of government mistakes in dealing with the problems of the rural world.
The President of PASOK-Movement of Change, Nikos Androulakis, spoke at an event of the prefectural committee of Heraklion, Crete, on Friday evening.
Referring to the political goals ahead of the European elections, Mr. Androulakis urged those present to look back in time. “The question two years ago was whether PASOK will exist and whether it will go as a supplement with one or the other. The great victory we achieved is that today the question being asked has changed. It is not whether PASOK will govern, but when PASOK will govern. This is our great victory. That we achieved what they thought was impossible. “PASOK is not only not a supplement, but already in the measurements it is the official opposition and will become the second party with the popular verdict in the European elections, with increased percentages,” he noted.
He pointed out the government’s mistakes in dealing with the problems of the rural world.
“Five presidents of OPEKEPE and four ministers of New Democracy, – with Mr. Avgenakis being the last one – made a mess of OPEKEPE. In December, payments were 600 million euros less. The worst since the beginning of the implementation of the common agricultural policy. This is the reality. That’s why they led to the resignation of the last president of OPEKEPE” stressed Mr. Androulakis
Regarding the resolution of the European Parliament on the degradation of the rule of law in Greece, the President of PASOK-Change Movement said: “Mr. Mitsotakis controls everything. This is revealed by the resolution of the European Parliament. 330 MEPs from the Left, the Social Democracy, the Greens, the Liberals and seven from the Right of the People’s Party did not suddenly wake up and wonder “what is happening in Greece?” Slowly and steadily the quality of democracy in Greece, justice, respect for human rights, and the separation of powers are being degraded. Suddenly, the Areios Pagos – as if we are Hungary – answers to the European Parliament. Where was the Supreme Court when I filed the indictment on the wiretapping and it still hasn’t called the Prime Minister’s nephew?”
Against the backdrop of the government’s bill for the establishment of non-state non-profit universities and the comprehensive proposal submitted by PASOK to the public debate, Mr. Androulakis clarified: “The priority is to support the public university, with resources, with research, with professors. Ban non-government non-profits? We say no. We do not prohibit, we regulate. We do not franchise like Mr. Pierrakakis. We want them to become non-profit, but with three criteria: financial, academic, geographical.”
He also commented on the position of the President of SYRIZA on the matter.
“Today Mr. Kasselakis stated that he does not want non-state non-profits. But when he had come to Greece, he said that he was in favor of the private sector! He changed his mind within a few months! We speak value-wise and concretely because our speech does not aim to caress ears or grab the vote of the citizens. Our reason is programmatic with the aim of getting society to trust us again. To become the democratic faction and PASOK, the faction that will be reborn and will give perspective to all generations for social justice and national dignity,” he said characteristically.
