The president of SYRIZA returns to the issue of the iSYRIZA questionnaire, Stefanos Kasselakis with a new post on Facebook, after the intervention of Olga Gerovasilis who requests the convening of the party bodies before the congress.

In his post, Mr. Kasselakis states:

“In the SYRIZA I envision, the president and the institutions first listen to the base and then decide, taking it into account.

I know it’s unusual for the political scene in our country, but to speak to society again we have to go beyond ourselves and listen to society.

Giving voice to members has been a key commitment of mine since the very beginning, when I ran for President of SYRIZA.

After all, the progressive world has been shouting at us since 2019 to “change everything”.

I encourage all SYRIZA members to fill out the questionnaire at isyriza.gr/preconference_… . Your answers will help both me and the Party Organs in our decisions.

We are not talking here about polls in news bulletins but about a process of internal party democracy.

I call on all progressive citizens to become members of SYRIZA, to strengthen the only alternative to the government dystopia, and to support my effort.”

The statement of Olga Gerovasilis

“I was very surprised to read on the #iSYRIZA website the initiative of President Stefanos Kasselakis to ask the opinion of the party members on issues related to the structure, name, logo, as well as the political identity of #SYRIZA_Σ

Five days before the congress, identifying issues are selected and asked, in the form of a poll questionnaire, which constitute congressional decisions and statutory positions of our party. Key, critical and important issues are not raised in the public sphere since they have not been raised neither in the positions, nor in the public, nor in the intra-party dialogue of the party members.

I would expect, therefore, from the President, before asking on the electronic platform these identity questions about our party to our members, to tell us exactly what he is proposing, that is, what is his own position on the above.

The minimum I am obliged to do after all this, is to immediately request the extraordinary convening of the leading organs of the party, i.e. the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee, before the convening of the Congress. That is, before this de facto developed into a conference to dissolve the party that Alexis Tsipras brought to govern the country and which he handed over to his successor in the position of official opposition”.
