London, Thanasis Gavos

Stefanos Kasselakis had a discussion about Cypriots and issues concerning Hellenism in Britain with a delegation of the National Cypriot Federation of the United Kingdom in London on Monday afternoon.

The president of SYRIZA PS was informed about the action of the Federation and expressed the willingness to cooperate with them to promote positions on national issues in the decision-making centers in London.

He also expressed his solidarity with the Cypriots in the effort to reunify the island and emphasized his support for the resumption of talks for a solution from where they had stopped in Crans Montana.

The meeting also discussed the correct content of the bizonal bicommunal federation solution, as well as matters concerning parochial education in Britain and the church.

The delegation of the Federation included the vice-president Michalis Ellinas, the treasurer Pampos Charalambous, the honorary secretary Andreas Karaolis and the secretary Elisavet Parpi.

During the reception of Mr. Kasselakis, the delegation asked him to sit where he is comfortable, with him jokingly replying that he is comfortable everywhere. To the comment of one of the members of the Federation that “he is also comfortable with tractors”, he replied “certainly with tractors, because they are good people”.

Immediately after, Mr. Kasselakis was accepted into the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain by the Most Reverend Archbishop Mr. Nikitas.

It was preceded by the working lunch of the leader of SYRIZA with investment and business actors in London.

The program of Stefanos Kasselakis’ two-day visit to London concludes in the evening with a speech at the London School of Economics on the topic “The modern left for a progressive governance”.
