The Minister of Labor and Social Security focused on three pillars that are essential for the return of “talents” back to the country
“The return of Greeks abroad is not only an economic need, but a social and moral obligation. Greece must “embrace” its children who left abroad, looking for opportunities and offer them a welcoming and supportive environment, so that they can return and contribute to their homeland”, said the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidouspeaking yesterday, 5/3, at the annual event of the BrainReGain initiative – Hellenism in Action.
Starting her speech, Mrs. Michailidou referred to her personal experience abroad, where she lived and worked for 12 consecutive years. As he said: “It is extremely important to continue to “send a signal” to our compatriots living outside the borders that our economy is doing better every year, wages are increasing and that if they want to establish a business in Greece, they will not be discouraged from the bureaucracy”.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security focused on three pillars which are key to the return of the “talents” back to the country.
“I’m going back to Greece” – said Mrs. Michailidou – “it means salaryfiscally incentives, lightening and tax rates. It means services for harmonizing family and work life for both children and adults. It means a friendly and inclusive environment for everyone.”
Mrs. Michailidou’s report on Rebrain Greece, the electronic platform that connects, through the “ERGANI II” Information System, “talents” residing inside and outside Greece with businesses, was extensive.
His goal Rebrain Greece is the coverage of jobs that require high expertise, abilities and skills. They have already joined the Rebrain Greece platform 1,000 “talents” and 145 businesses and 170 jobs posted.
As the Minister of Labor and Social Security noted, “the Digital Talent Interconnection Mechanism with highly specialized positions is a good example of cooperation and partnership between the public and private sectors. Rebrain Greece, which is compatible with the European Talent Enhancement Mechanism, is part of the government’s actions to highlight, attract and retain talent throughout Greece and in regions that have a great shortage of highly skilled workers.”
Also, Mrs. Michailidou referred to the workforce retraining initiatives, maternity benefits, the prospects of the Greek economy and tax incentives. “The state” – underlined the Minister of Labor – “has established a set of tax incentives in order to create a favorable regime for natural persons who will transfer their tax residence to Greece and are now taxed on their worldwide income in our country. Those natural persons who transfer their tax residence to Greece are exempt from income tax for 50% of the income for seven tax years”.
“Taking advantage of the potential of Greeks living abroad,” continued Mrs. Michailidou, “is essential for the realization of our development goals. Greece needs qualified executives and with our policies we have given young people the prospect of returning to Greece. We are creating a Greece that offers opportunities and prospects for everyone”.
As pointed out in the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, the discussion with the Minister of Labor and Social Security was attended by Konstantinos Kyranakis, Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Alexandros Paterakis, Deputy CEO of PPC, Yiannis Papachristos, member of the Board of Directors of BrainReGain and CEO of the ANT1 Group. and Aristotelis Panteliadis, President & CEO of METRO SA.
