The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, Giorgos Pitsilis, met today with the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey, Sezai Uçarmak, with the aim of strengthening the bilateral cooperation in the customs sector between Greece and Turkey.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and discussed among others:
- The Law Enforcement Action Plan which includes the establishment of joint cooperation teams and joint trainings of customs officers on the operational readiness of sniffer dogs and x-ray image analysis
- The upgrading of the operation of the border customs of Kipi and Ypsala
- Trade facilitation practices, such as the verification of certificates of origin issued by the Greek Chambers.
The Governor of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, stated this: “Customs has a primary role in securing the supply chain at our border with Turkey and achieving economic growth through trade facilitation. We are working closely with our neighbors to increase our effectiveness in the fight against smuggling and to contribute to the development of our economic relations with Turkey.”
