A call to participate in the European elections to strengthen democracy and social cohesion in the face of populism and the extreme right, speaking to SKAI and Giorgos Autias, the former minister and parliamentarian of the ND, Takis Theodorikakos, addressed.

“We must do everything in our power to strengthen the unity of global Hellenism,” he said characteristically, announcing that in a few days he will be in Canada, a guest of the Greek diaspora.

Mr. Theodorikakos warned about the dangers of abstinence, extreme right and populism.

“My mission to Canada is an essential and honorable task with many dimensions,” he noted and added: “We must do everything possible to make postal voting a success, as it offers the possibility of effortless participation.”

“I see that there is a risk of abstinence, while in Europe far-right and populist voices are developing again, which we have paid very dearly in our country in previous years” he underlined.

He announced that he would participate in seven gatherings in Canada to invite the Greek expatriates to participate in the European elections, “to decide for themselves the future of Greece and Europe”. Action for the participation of expatriates will culminate on March 25, when Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak at a large gathering in Toronto.

International liquidity requires the unity of Hellenism and dealing with demographics.

“We are living in a period of fluidity – we have before us the American elections, two wars in our neighborhood, which we felt during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Odessa – the Hellenism must be united and face the No. 1 problem head on: the demographic. We’re not going anywhere if we don’t reverse the course of fixation,” emphasized Mr. Theodorikakos, and he emphasized the need for the young people who left during the crisis to return to Greece.

Answering a related question, he recalled the project of extending the fence to the Evros. “Guarding the borders is an eternal duty, in the face of any threat” he concluded his rationale.
