The reaction of the political world was caused by last night’s verbal attack against the president of SYRIZA in Thessaloniki, by masked men who participated in the rally against the homophobic attack against two queer people.

The strangers disapproved of Stefanos Kasselakis, when he arrived at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, at the “Olympion” cinema, with characterizations such as “trash” and “oppressor”.

“We express our self-evident and unequivocal condemnation of the verbal attack received tonight in Thessaloniki by the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, as well as the injury to a police officer. Bat-bearers and hood-bearers have no place in the Republic”, notes the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, in a post on social media.

“Tonight’s incidents of hooded men against demonstrators and the president of SYRIZA, S. Kasselakis, which follow yesterday’s attack on two citizens for their sexual orientation, are absolutely condemnable,” said the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis. Equality and respect for human rights are inviolable democratic principles,” he stressed.
