He denounced Israel’s “five-month gigantic military operation with the backs of the USA and the EU” and noted: “From the first moment, the KKE made it clear that we are separated by a huge ideological and political gap with Hamas. Today, however, with over 30,000 dead in Gaza, what we said then, that the so-called “self-defense” of Israel it was and is a vulgar pretext. The unrepeatable atrocity he has unleashed has catalyzed every written or unwritten rule of war, bombing hospitals, homes, schools, mosques and churches.”

Noting that “the goal of the Israeli leadership is the genocide of its people Palestine and the displacement of those who survive” underlined that “it seems clear that they want to get their hands on the entire coastal area, from Egypt to Lebanon, to satisfy big business interests, such as the exploitation of hydrocarbons in the EEZ belonging to the Palestinians, as well as the strengthening of trade routes from Asia to Europe through Israel. The existence, struggle and resistance of an entire people, the people of Palestine, is a “thorn” for the promotion of these interests.

“From the consequences of this policy of his reactionary government Israel, for the interests of the capitalists, the people of Israel themselves suffer. He also referred, in detail, to the sharpest rivalries between the bourgeois classes in the region, but also the strongest imperialist states that are “interested in the region”.

“Amidst this chaos of contradictions, the ND government, with the support of SYRIZA and PASOK as well as the Hellenic Solution and the other extreme right-wing formations, took over the support of the Israeli war operation in the slaughter of the people of Palestine, in this crime against humanity. After sending the Greek artillery “Patriot” to Saudi Arabia, now we have the frigate “Hydra” being sent to the Red Sea, under the guise of “protection of navigation”. In fact, Greece also took over the administration of the EU’s “Aspides” naval mission, which is being planned in cooperation with the corresponding operation, led by the USA,” said D. Koutsoumbas.

“This overt support for Israel is not done because the EU and the USA simply “whistled” it to us, but because the government and other parties have the interests of the country’s ruling class as their “compass”.

“The reactions that have been provoked in the ranks of the permanent officers and reservists of the Armed Forces for this cynical decision of the Greek government are completely fair,” he said, emphasizing that “they do not go to the “mouth of the wolf” to defend the sovereignty and sovereign rights of the country, as sworn. He reminded that “from the first moment the KKE highlighted the anti-people character of this war”, he referred to the sharpest – for years – rivalries in the region between capitalist Russia and its allies on the one hand and the US-NATO-EU on the other and underlined that the KKE “rejected, from the first day of the Russian invasion and much earlier, the pretexts – existing and non-existent – that were used by each side of this unjust imperialist war, which pushes two peoples, the Russian and the Ukrainian, who together they thrived in the 70 years of socialism, to kill each other for “the master of food”.

He pointed out “the leading role that the EU and its leading powers have taken on in the war” in order to “defend from its competitors the investments made in Ukraine by Western European monopolies, which expect to take over the golden construction “reconstruction” of which the Greek bourgeoisie has also declared “present”.

He also stated that “in these two years of war the peoples of Europe paid and continue to pay for its heavy funding by the EU”.

He said, at another point in his speech, that despite Mitsotakis’ assurances “that we will not go as far as sending Greek troops to Ukraine, already today the alliances in which our country is involved, with the strategic alliance with the USA, the participation in NATO and the EU, makes it a participant in the imperialist war with Russia.

Already today, Souda, Alexandroupoli, Larissa and all the military installations, which are used by the USA and NATO in the war against Russia, are targets of retaliation by it”.

“There can be no trust in any assurances of the ND government, which with its policy and the support of SYRIZA, PASOK, the nationalist parties, has targeted the country and our people,” he stressed.

D. Koutsoubas warned, once again, that “today, new painful compromises are being prepared for the sovereign rights and sovereignty of the country, in order to “pave the way” for the so-called “co-exploitation” by all kinds of monopoly interests, with incalculable consequences for the future of the two peoples, for peace, but also the environment”.

“Once again we will emphasize that the dilemma of NATO settlement in Greek-Turkish or hot episode and war is an electoral dilemma, since one does not exclude the other.

Our people must have no confidence in those who drag them into war! We must not give any alibi to the incendiary and pro-war designs of Euro-Atlantic imperialism” underlined D. Koutsoubas.

“Now is the time to hear a big NO to the transformation of our country into the “tip of the spear” in the US-NATO-EU imperialist murderous plans. Now to hear a big YES to the right to live peacefully, in solidarity with other peoples, housewives in our country”, he emphasized.

“The message that the ND government will receive, but also the EU of the war in the upcoming elections, should be much louder! The only ballot that can convey this anti-war message, to be heard throughout Europe, is that of the KKE.

The people have the power to put their stamp on developments, to put an end to the rotten world of wars! To strengthen the labor-popular opposition and counterattack.
