The project includes the construction of EYDAP’s water transport pipeline, with a total length of 15 km, from Megara to Kineta, as well as the construction of a new central tank – with two chambers – with a capacity of 3,000m3, solving the chronic problem of unsuitability of water
A permanent solution to the chronic problem of Kineta’s water supply is initiated by the decision of the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalia, to complete the construction of the EYDAP pipeline in the region – a project which is part of the “Attica 2021 – 2027” Program.
“Staying true to our commitments, we are providing a solution to the problems that have plagued citizens for years, with another major infrastructure project that will relieve thousands of residents and visitors to the area. It is unthinkable in this day and age that our fellow citizens do not have access to the supply of suitable, quality drinking water. And that ends today,” said the regional governor of Attica. He added: “We have made it clear from the beginning that no one is going to be left alone. No region of Attica will be left without care on behalf of the Region. We will always look for the most affordable solutions, as we are doing today with the water supply project for the settlement of Kineta – Megaron”.
The project has a total budget of 6.4 million euros and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. It includes the construction of EYDAP’s water transport pipeline, with a total length of 15 km, from Megara to Kineta, as well as the construction of a new central tank – with two chambers – with a capacity of 3,000m3, solving the chronic problem of unsuitability of water faced by more than 21,000 residents of the wider area.
Following the initiative of the governor of Attica, next week a meeting will be held with the leaders of EYDAP, while the project will be auctioned by the end of June.
