The American Secretary of State referred to the close cooperation that exists between the US and Greece in dealing with contemporary international challenges.Anthony Blinken in the message he issued for the celebration of March 25. As the head of American diplomacy argued, Greek-American cooperation is today stronger than ever.

“The United States applauds Greece’s continued support for Ukrainian sovereignty, humanitarian aid to Gaza, support for Israel, and participation in Operation Prosperity Guardian. We appreciate Greece’s cooperation on issues such as climate change and for its leadership in organizing this year’s Our Ocean conference. As we look forward to another year of challenges and opportunities, I am thrilled that our partnership is stronger than ever,” he said.

Anthony Blinken’s Message for the March 25 Celebration

“On behalf of the government and people of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Greece and Greeks around the world as they celebrate the 203rd anniversary of the founding of the Hellenic Republic.

It was my honor to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at his family home in Crete in January and to host Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetritis at the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue in February. Together we underlined our growing bilateral and transatlantic relationship based on shared democratic values.

On Europe’s southeastern border, Greece, as a bilateral partner and NATO ally, has served and been a principled champion of peace and prosperity, and I thank you for your continued leadership. In addition, we share a common vision for peaceful, sustainable and transparent cooperation in space under the Artemis Accords.

The United States and Greece benefit from the deepest and enduring ties between our people, including a deep commitment to democracy, innovation, and expanding educational opportunities for all people, regardless of background or ability. As the birthplace of democracy, Greece serves as a source of inspiration for the principles we hold dear and rely on to address today’s global challenges.
