The president of Niki, Dimitris Natsios, will have a meeting in the Parliament at noon with Nikos Papadopoulos, in the wake of yesterday’s statements by the party’s deputy, who spoke of believers who have started to “distribute cufflinks” in churches, warning that “we will also see worse”.
“This is a meeting in order to clarify the last dark points” stressed the party’s press representative, Dimos Thanasoulas, speaking to the parliamentary editors, with party sources underlining that it will be a “typical” meeting of a consultative nature.
Dimitris Natsios spoke of Nikos Papadopoulos’ “source spontaneity”, stressing that “he did not incite attacks, but when he spoke about cufflinks, he made a social observation”.
The president of the party added that in the committee the member of parliament “unequivocally condemned the violence”, on the occasion of the attack received by ND member of parliament Angeliki Delikari in a church in Kavala on Sunday, by a candidate member of Niki.
D. Natsios recalled that his party “immediately” issued a statement condemning the attack on the ND MP.
However, from Niki they were commenting since yesterday that Mr. Papadopoulos did nothing more to the committee than to convey the image he received from his electoral base after the passing of the law on the civil marriage of same-sex couples, considering that he himself stayed within the party line.
