A new political confrontation has been caused by the report of SYRIZA MP Alexandros Avlonitis in relation to the submission of a memorandum by the main opposition on the issue of the “Spartians”. However, SYRIZA submitted a text – statement for the party in question.

A statement was made by the MP of SYRIZA-P.S. Alexandros Avlonitis, clarifying that SYRIZA has submitted a text that highlights the government’s oligarchy. I make it clear that the Greek Judiciary does not need documents and memoranda, says Mr. Avlonitis.

In the text – statement finally filed by SYRIZA, as stated in the case of the “Spartans” the conditions for their exclusion from the ballot box are met, there is an unwavering obstacle for the “Spartans” combination to declare and participate in the European elections, as its real leader (Kassidiaris) has been convicted of a criminal organization. At the same time, they accuse the government of hypocrisy.

For the failure to file a memorandum on the part of the official opposition regarding the issue of the “Spartans”, the government representative was appointed earlier.

Just yesterday we were wondering as a government why SYRIZA has not submitted a memorandum to the Areopagus against the “Spartiates” party. Today we got the answer. SYRIZA MP and Justice Department head Alexandros Avlonitis, speaking on a program on the Parliament channel, informed us that they decided (and indeed after a meeting with the head of the SYRIZA KO Sokratis Famellos) to submit a memorandum against the Spartans “today itself”. Today! While the deadline has expired since the 20th of the month, underlined Mr. Marinakis.

“It is not the first time that SYRIZA is absent from such a case that concerns the quality of our democracy. Neither had they voted for our last legislative initiative in this direction, nor had they submitted a memorandum against the Kasidiaris party in the national elections of 2023. The so-called defenders of Democracy, who fight for the Rule of Law, slandering Greece in Europe, remain steadfast only in big words and creating impressions.
