Ten days left until his critical appointment Kyriakou Mitsotakis with Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. The Greek prime minister will pass through the gates of the palace for the first time in a very special environment that is shaped by the cancellation of the Turkish president’s visit to Washington. Tayyip Erdogan chose to meet with the leader of Hamas Ismail Haniya and to make a very harsh speech against Israel and everything from there went its way. The formalization of the May 9 meeting from the White House never came, and the cancellation of the trip was a one-way street with the American side. A diplomatic “thriller” of about a week followed, and as international media have reported, the American side was largely surprised by the developments. What is clearly visible is the problematic relationship that exists between the two countries with Erdogan’s “bargain” being activated in an attempt to gain a strong negotiating advantage.

After the Turkish objections and provocative statements about the creation of a marine park in the Aegean, things have calmed down again between the two countries. In Maximos, calm prevailed and after almost 14 months of good neighborliness, they saw from the first moment that there are safety barriers that will not allow the situation to derail. Ahead of the meeting, Tayyip ErdoÄŸan chose to stir up a “storm” in the open and then move into calmer waters. One does not expect that the difficult issues will be raised at this meeting, but that a schedule for the next steps in the relations between the two countries will be set first. As Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated, Ankara’s positions in relation to EEZ it is known that they have not changed. The main thing right now is “building” a positive agenda and maintaining the good atmosphere. The two leaders will have the opportunity to talk again, after all, in Washington at the Summit of NATO in July and see if there has been any progress.

Otherwise, Turkey moves at its own pace, showing that the differences with Greece will exist for many years to come. Data is constantly changing. Her theory will be included in the textbooks from the following year “Blue Homeland”. In the new curriculum, maps and the doctrine of the “Blue Country” will be taught in the Geography course in secondary education. It is obvious that these theories based on Turkish revisionism are being tried to become the consciousness of the young Turkish citizens and therefore the future leaders of the country. Epimythium: knowing its geostrategic value, Turkey manages to dress its expansionist ambitions in a “new suit” every time. And her new move includes the “stamp” of the Ministry of Education.
