Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his speech at a TEE event, characterized the new data as a continuation of a “silent revolution” in the field of construction
“Today you are not just presenting a major reform, but we are continuing a silent revolution, which is taking place in the construction industry in the country as a whole. Because both the Unified Digital Map and the extremely valuable National Infrastructure Register are now multi-tools in the hands of the state, the technical world, justice, and citizens. On the one hand, immediately providing all information, in order to proceed with any technical project, investment, and on the other hand, giving a real-time picture of the infrastructure in the entire territory” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking today at the event of the Technical Chamber of Greece for the Unified Digital Map and the National Register of Infrastructure, held at the Stavros Niarchos Culture Center, underlining that with a few clicks we will get to the point of abolishing a huge bureaucracy.
He pointed out that in this way transparent and correct information is ensured and of course existing problems in existing infrastructures are dealt with as well as the licensing and construction of new projects.
“In other words, what you saw today is another step of bold modernization, at the heart of which is this double political choice of the government, promotion of collective development, but also at the same time the daily service of the citizen” said the Prime Minister.
“After its pilot phase, this platform will be able to integrate every element, every new element of urban planning, which is evolving at speed, and every new data from the information systems of the ministries, related agencies and the TEE” he added.
The prime minister then referred to a discussion he had with his father and former prime minister Constantinos Mitsotakis about which reform should be a priority and he replied: “The organization of the space”.
“A better life means ensuring legality, when it will now be recorded with absolute transparency, we hope that at some point it will also have a binding legal value, what is allowed, what is prohibited in each area, what is valid on the coast, in the archaeological sites, in the forest areas, in the protected settlements. And how much easier life becomes when we will be able to automatically calculate objective values and when everyone will know the building conditions in every corner of our country. A timeless pathology of the state is finding its answer step by step” said the Prime Minister.
The prime minister also emphasized that these bold reforms are the only way forward for anyone who wants a modern Greece that will develop to get closer to Europe.
“And these changes have a political sign. The opacity, the overlapping of responsibilities may favor some, but our goal is to improve everyone’s life,” he said.
In closing, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said “Yes, a lot has been done, but we are in the middle of this journey, much more remains to be done. All building permits should be issued through the TEE’s electronic system to reduce inconvenience. In this way, Greece will advance even faster on the path of development that brings both jobs and public revenues, but the citizen will also trust the state with actions that improve their own progress”.
“Therefore, political stability and productive continuity in the country are of key importance. These are valuable conditions that will be tested in a few weeks in the European elections” added the Prime Minister, underlining that the ND is the only party that talks about the subject of the European elections and Europe, as the Single Digital Map is financed by the Recovery Fund.
