Mr. Mitsotakis, after his interview on “San Today” with Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos, also visited SKAI 100.3, where he spoke “on the air” with Aris Portosalte, among other things about the issue of road safety .

After reiterating that traffic light cameras would be included, the Prime Minister announced that artificial intelligence would also be “recruited” to boost road safety.

In particular he said that: “We will need a lot more cameras and we are already working with countries that have a lot of experience…Of course, (we will put cameras on traffic lights) we have a lot of experience in traffic management issues.”

Regarding artificial intelligence, the prime minister stated that the country is in the process of using it for better traffic management in Athens, combined with the strengthening of road safety.

“Artificial intelligence can be a huge opportunity for our country to leapfrog and potentially surpass some countries. We are currently working with a major global company to see how we can leverage artificial intelligence to streamline the way we which the traffic lights in Athens operate. That is, to have real time information about the traffic, which – in the first phase – can help us with the flow of traffic. Gone are the days when a traffic warden opened the road for you might open the way here and give you trouble further down.”
