Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited at noon the Hand-Microsurgery Clinic of the Upper Extremity of the General Hospital of Attica KAT, which was recently renovated, and the emergency department, where the renovation work is in progress.

“It is very important that here we are talking about a leading, I would say, infrastructure in terms of hand surgeries. I think the private sector would also be very jealous of her and she is in a public hospital“, pointed out Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Prime Minister referred to the overall improvement of the infrastructure of the National Health System: “Here we see the complete renovation of clinical microsurgery. A while ago we saw the complete renovation of the emergency departments. It is something that the patients will not see from one moment to the next, but step by step the infrastructure of the National Health System is improving».
At the same time, Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the role of the clinic in the provision of innovative services as well as the training of young doctors. “We are especially happy when we support innovation and the education of our new doctors, of course. Because this is also of great importance, how the NHS will also be attractive to young doctors, who will be able to learn alongside the older and more experienced ones».
“We are currently incorporating all the advances in microsurgery. The medical staff at the NHS have the obligation to do this: to integrate all developments in science, because this has the best result for the patient”, underlined the Director of the clinic, Manos Fandridis. “Today we are here in an area that is being significantly upgraded for us employees, the nursing staff, the medical staff, but above all for the patient. So, we all thank the state. I want to thank you personally for supporting the project – because the project matters – and for supporting patients and society“, he added.
During his visit to the emergency department of the hospital, the Prime Minister was informed by the Governor Yiannis Iliopoulos and the Authorized Advisor of TAIPED Panagiotis Stampoulides about the renovation works, with a budget of 6.1 million euros, which are in progress at the hospital, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, in the context of the broad intervention to upgrade health structures included in the “Greece 2.0” National Plan.
