“The main axis of our policy is actually the increase of incomes”
On his TV and to “Mismatched» the deputy minister was earlier a guest than the prime minister and a government representative, Pavlos Marinakiswho talked about all the burning issues of the day.
Starting from accuracyMr. Marinakis pointed out that the letter of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen was essentially “the continuation of a series of initiatives by the government against the biggest problem which is accuracy”.
“Our main axis is the increase of incomes”, he emphasized, “the second thing that did not exist in the country was the controls and we have managed within a year to carry out 44,000 controls and to impose 19 million euros in fines, at the same time that some were asking they plant leaf trees”.
Then the government representative, citing a relevant Eurostat table, described as a “myth” the narrative that Greece is the most expensive country in Europe. “Cumulatively, the EU average in terms of inflation is 13.1%, the Eurozone 20.4% and our country 15.1%. 15.1% is a lot, that’s why our main political pursuit is to increase wages, which is gradually reflected as prices deescalate. In any case, we will continue to reduce taxes based on our own program and not on the opposition’s ‘give away debt-give away land’ logic.”
“The last thing we have to do is apologize to Mr. Tsipras for the Prespa Agreement”
Asked about SYRIZA’s objections to the issue North MacedoniaMr. Marinakis said that “the last thing we have to do is apologize to Mr. Tsipras for the Prespa Agreement.”
“SYRIZA 2024 comes and tells us to vote for everything, even if the opposite side adheres to absolutely nothing. This attitude is incomprehensible and even particularly strange. On the contrary, we as the opposition considered the Prespa Agreement bad, but we had made it clear that if it is passed, we will be obliged to implement it, because the state, for better or worse, has continuity”, he concluded, while clarifying:
“Under no circumstances will the memoranda of cooperation with North Macedonia be voted on, given the existing conditions.”
