The vice admiral e.a. Panagiotis Lymberis appointed chairman of the under recommendation Defense Innovation Centeras the Minister of National Defense reported in Parliament Nikos Dendias.

In his intervention, during the discussion of the bill that provides for the establishment of the Defense Innovation Center (ELKAK), Mr. Dendias said that the ten-member Board of Directors includes the General Director of Equipment, Lt. Gen. Ioannis Bouras, “interrupting the procedure followed until now re-call of a retired or external executive for the management”, noting that he followed the recommendation of GEETHA. He also noted that in addition to the Director of Equipment, the Board of Directors also includes the General Director of Innovation, and that in this position, Lieutenant General Georgios Panousis, a graduate of NTUA, will be appointed.

Responding to reports by the rapporteurs of SYRIZA-PS, Evangelos Apostolakis and PASOK-Movement of Change Dim. Biagis, in matters of accountability of ELKAK, Mr. Dendias expressed his agreement that there should be a mandatory annual hearing of ELKAK by the parliamentary committee on Armament Programs, while regarding internal accountability, he said that the control of ELKAK is exercised by GEETHA and not by external organ. There are two internal audit bodies, and an internal audit committee, and the ministry’s internal affairs directorate, Mr. Dendias said.
