He said that “the day after the European elections, on June 10, the anti-popular counter does not reset, it continues to write and load burdens on the popular family”.
The General Secretary of the KE of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas spoke on Friday evening at a meeting of mass organizations in Egaleo.
Taking the floor immediately after the interventions of the representatives of the agencies, he noted that “they highlighted in a very vivid way the problems that torment the working-class families in Aegaleo as well”.
He said that “the day after the European elections, on June 10, the anti-popular counter does not reset, it continues to write and load burdens on the popular family”.
No matter how much ND, SYRIZA, PASOK, “New Left”, Hellenic Solution, Pleusi Eleftherias try to “extract oil” from the EU policy that they all serve, the reality screams: Behind every crime and injustice is the EU of monopolies , of lobbies, of poverty, of wars” he underlined.
He said the same applies to the problems highlighted by the interventions, such as understaffing and underfunding of public hospitals in the region.
As he said, ND “dare to talk about supporting Health when it has passed the afternoon paid surgeries, putting a price list on our lives with the further commercialization of Health and at the same time public hospitals remain closed, like Loimodon in your neighborhood” .
“It advertises upgrading Primary Health Care with Recovery Fund programs, but hides that these go to large contractors for energy upgrades. These programs do not give a single euro for hiring permanent staff of all specialties, for modern equipment,” he added.
He said that SYRIZA, PASOK, and the other parties “accept Health – a commodity, the logic of “cost-benefit” that permeates the EU strategy in Health as well”, while “the same is true of their policy in Education”.
“It is also confirmed by the experience of the big “fronts” in your region, that the famous financial tools of the EU, which our people bleed to pay for them, concern the profits of the business giants and not the needs of the working-popular majority” he said D. Koutsoubas.
He referred to the big issue of accuracy noting that “it is not addressed when wages in the public sector remain 40% below 2009 and in the private sector are below 15% compared to 2011”.
“The precision will gnaw away at the income as long as the taxes on the already broad popular consumption remain intact so that Mr. Mitsotakis can be proud of the surpluses. And of course, as long as the profitability of the groups, including the supermarkets, remains unassailable.
And on top of that are the very expensive rents and the “green” taxes, the “liberation” of the energy market, the total lifting of taxation, especially for the self-employed, professional craftsmen and freelance scientists, which essentially leads them to the lockout,” he added.
“Opposite is the KKE, which has submitted a proposal for a law and dozens of questions regarding the issues of the self-employed and small professionals” he said, noting that “the government, like the other parties, refuses the tax-free limit for freelancers of 12,000 euros, increased by 5,000 euros for each protected member, but ensures voluntary taxation of shipowners, exemption of strategic investors for some years.
“Let’s do the minimum: Let’s abolish the VAT on consumer goods and energy taxes. It will be a breath of fresh air!” he emphasized.
He said that “at the same time, thousands of workers who live and work in Aegaleo are faced with the intensity of exploitation, the expansion of flexible forms of employment, individual contracts, the arrangement of working time, intensification, working 13 hours, the abolition of the Sunday Holiday, teleworking, work on platforms without labor rights, the undermining of Collective Labor Agreements”.
“They come face to face with the layoffs, like the workers of “Youla”” he added, making special reference to this factory.
He also referred to the inadequacy of the existing facilities, many of them poorly maintained, which cannot meet the objective popular needs of the sports and cultural-scenic clubs of Aigaleo and added that the KKE supports the fair claims for public, free sports infrastructure for all with adequate support from the state, a brave increase in the grants of amateur sports clubs, and the support of ethno-local and cultural clubs.
D. Koutsoumbas said that the KKE “enters the front of the struggle to stop any involvement of our country, that is, of the people in the war conflicts in Ukraine, in the Middle East on the side of the USA-NATO-EU”.
“Not only because our people are being targeted for retaliation, but also because this involvement is costing our people dearly,” he added.
“On June 10, the anti-popular counter will continue to write and add new burdens to popular families. New burdens for the people are written in capital letters by the decisions, directives, guidelines of the EU, which everyone votes together and then implements either as a government or as an opposition. The ND government is also preparing to impose new burdens on the people, which is why Mitsotakis insists on asking for a new “blank check” to complete his unpopular reforms,” said D. Koutsoubas.
He emphasized that “the people can, with a strong KKE, “cut off” the ND government, but also those forces, such as SYRIZA, PASOK, the New Left, who have been turning their backs on the system for years either as a government or as opposition”.
“On June 10, we need a strong KKE and where the decisions are made in the European Parliament, in the Parliament and where they are finally overturned in the streets of the struggle” he underlined, concluding his speech.
