“We are here to promote a two-state solution based on UN resolutions, for a Palestinian state to be recognized as soon as possible.”
“We are here to send a clear message of solidarity and support to the friendly Palestinian people”, the president of SYRIZA-PS emphasizes in his statementStefanos Kasselakis, after his meeting at noon on Sunday with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Palestine, in Bethlehem. Mr. Kasselakis visited the Al Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem together with the SYRIZA delegation.
Stefanos Kasselakis specifically pointed out:
“We are here to send a clear message of solidarity and support to the friendly Palestinian people. A people who have suffered a lot for many years, who have just demands, and for whom Europe must provide undivided support so that there is an immediate ceasefire as well as the necessary humanitarian aid.
We are here to promote the two-state solution based on UN resolutions, for a Palestinian state to be recognized as soon as possible and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Above all, SYRIZA stands on the side of peace, and I think the whole Western world must send a clear message that Israel and Palestine can move forward on a permanent basis of peace.”
Stefanos Kasselakis, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Palestine, Hani Al-Hayek, had the opportunity to talk with the residents of the camp, to be informed about the situation and to hear their stories. After all, the Al-Aida camp, in which more than 6,000 people live, is one of the oldest in Palestine, as it was created in 1948 after the events that followed the establishment of the state of Israel and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes.
The president of SYRIZA-PS is accompanied on his ongoing trip to Palestine by the Secretary of SYRIZA-PS, Rania Svigou, the Head of Defense, Evangelos Apostolakis, the Head of Foreign Affairs, Rena Dourou, and his diplomatic advisor Dimitrios Papageorgiou.
