The special character of this landmark imposes the solution that was launched and which is none other than the fact that the Parliament acquires a foothold, a permanent presence in Thessaloniki, said the Prime Minister
A dream of decades for Thessaloniki, the revival of the Government (Palataki) is implemented with the memorandum of cooperation signed between Hellenic Parliament, the Superfund and the State Real Estate Company (ETAD)with the aim of utilizing it, underlined the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, during the signing ceremony.
“Today is a day of joy and excitement as we take the first step to make it a reality a decades-old dream of the whole of Thessaloniki, which is none other than to return this historic building, so identified with the modern history of Thessaloniki, back to the city, as a public space”, said the Prime Minister and continued: “I emphasize the public nature of the uses, which have to be determined, following the consultation of the Parliament, the Superfund and the ETAD, in order to come to the conclusion that the utilization of public property does not necessarily and always go through the logic of public and private sector partnerships.
The special character of this landmark imposes the solution that was launched and which is none other than that the Parliament essentially acquires a foothold, a permanent presence in Thessaloniki, a space for debates, conferences, a space for culture, a space that can use the building as well as the outside space with equal comfort. This is the vision of the president of the Parliament, this is the vision that the Greek government and I personally support, both as Prime Minister and as a Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki. And I am especially happy about the fact that the Parliament unanimously decided to undertake the cost of repairing this building, so that it can be returned to the society of Thessaloniki as soon as possible”.
Mr. Mitsotakis also thanked the club “Friends of the Government” for the efforts he made to reach the current development.
