The new Office for Dealing with Domestic Violence of the A.T. Charilaou- Ascension was visited on Wednesday by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, accompanied by the Chief of Greek Armed Forces Lieutenant General, Dimitrios Mallios, shortly before the announcement of the opening of the additional 45 new Domestic Violence Offices by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“We want to call on all Greek men and women to trust the police. The police play a very important social role in matters of social policing such as domestic violence”, stressed Mr. Chrysochoidis and noted that as of today, a total of 63 Domestic Violence Offices will be operating throughout the country, i.e. one in each prefecture. country. “This means that even the resident of the last remote mountainous or inaccessible village can contact the police, in order to deal with an incident of domestic violence or anything else that happens and human lives are at risk,” he said.

At the same time, he congratulated all those who contributed to the creation of this new Office, the third Domestic Violence Office in Thessaloniki, which will geographically cover a very large part of the city. In addition, he expressed his warm thanks to the company “Papastratos”, which took over and equipped all the new Domestic Violence Offices in the country. “It is an important social contribution, it is the social contribution of entrepreneurship in the effort made by the state, the public, the police, to ensure the safety, the integrity of the lives of women who are at risk of acts of violence and therefore what we owe is gratitude . To continue these efforts, to be close to us so that we can “scream” every day and realize how important the social role, the corporate responsibility, is when it is exercised in the context of social responsibility”, emphasized the Minister.

“The word “violence” does not exist in our vocabulary. There are words like equality, respect and social contribution and we are very proud that with the end of this joint action there will be a total of 63 Offices, in 55 cities in Greece”, noted the Managing Director of the Papastratos company, George Margonis. .

Afterwards, Michalis Chrysochoidis and Georgios Margonis co-signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement and were given a tour of the Office premises. Subsequently, a meeting was held under the Minister of Citizen Protection with Senior and Senior Officers of the Hellenic Police, while the heads of the Domestic Violence Office of the Harilaou Department informed about the actions they undertake in the handling of cases, the way the Office operates and the cooperation of the co-authors services.

The meeting was also attended by the Thessaloniki Primary Prosecutor for Juveniles and Domestic Violence, a Social Worker from the Thessaloniki Women’s Counseling Center (KETHI) and a Psychologist from the Thessaloniki Women’s Victims of Violence Hostel.
