Several high-profile names from showbiz, politics and journalism came out as losers in the battle of the cross as they failed to secure another term in the European Parliament.

Well-known artists and journalists this time did not collect the votes that would give them the “ticket” to cross the threshold of the European Parliament again.

Among the lost, is Thodoris Zagorakis (57,052 crosses) who this time was a candidate for the European Parliament with PASOK, to which he transferred after leaving the ND, in September 2023.

THE Stelios Kouloglou, SYRIZA MEP in 2019, left the party after the election of Stefanos Kasselakis to the presidency. He ran as a candidate with the New Left, with the party however failing to enter the European Parliament and himself receiving just 24,190 crosses.

Stelios Kymbouropoulos, although in 2019 he had succeeded the absolute record of crosses in Greece, (577,114 crosses) this time he did not secure a new term as he was elected 8th on the ND ballot.

Also left out of the European Parliament from ND was Maria Spyrakiwhich, although it captured 109,579 crosses, did not come close to securing a new term in the European Parliament.

Apart from the MEP and Petros Kokkalis. In 2019, he was elected with SYRIZA, while this time he was a candidate with the “Kosmos” party, which he founded a few months ago.

Finally, he was not elected either Alexis Georgoulis. The well-known actor, who was elected with SYRIZA in 2019, ran again in the European elections, this time with the Green Movement. However, the 0.67% of votes received by the party, as well as the 3,974 crosses that Alexis Georgoulis received, did not allow him to be re-elected.
