The messages that the prime minister will send to the new ministerial team are awaited with particular interest
The Prime Minister signaled the restart of the government, with the changes in the government structure. Under the watchful eye of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the total of 16 government officials who either entered the scheme for the first time, or changed portfolios, all took a religious oath and then signed the assumption of their duties.
All eyes are on today’s cabinet meeting at Megaros Maximos, as the messages that the prime minister will send to the new ministerial team for a faster and more effective implementation of the reforms in the political corridor that has opened up after the European elections are awaited with particular interest.
Yesterday’s reshuffle responds to the request of the citizens “we trust you. But get better, go faster” and, at the same time, sends a message of a dynamic restart, government officials note.
Efficiency and industriousness are criteria for the prime minister’s choices, while the new government scheme is characterized by changes and additions that indicate the priorities of the next period: Accuracy. farmers, the region and a more efficient state for a better everyday life.
Immediately after the cabinet meeting the Prime Minister will leave for Switzerland to participate in the Peace Conference on Ukraine which is taking place today and tomorrow in Burgenstock.
The subjects of the meeting of the Council of Ministers are:
-Presentation by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis of the legislative initiatives: a) Digital transaction fee, b) Restructuring of the Superfund, modernization of its subsidiaries and establishment of a new National Investment Fund,
-Presentation by the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis of the legislative initiatives: a) Rights of persons suffering from dementia and their carers, b) Transplantation of tissues and cells, c) Union of Nutritionists of Greece,
-Presentation by the Minister of State Makis Voridis of the implementation process and proposal for the approval of the update of the National Strategic Plan to Combat Corruption 2022-2025,
-Presentation by the Minister of State Makis Voridis of the annual report of the Central Codification Committee,
-Presentation by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, of the projects: a) Construction of the Tsiknia dam in Lesvos, b) Construction of water supply projects in Arta, Preveza, Lefkada, c) Extension of the Ionian Road: Ioannina – Kakavia Section
-Proposal by the Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis regarding the approval of River Basin Management Plans,
-Proposal by the Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis for the establishment, formation and operation of a Governmental Committee for Climate Neutrality.
The changes in the government structure focused on five ministries
Takis Theodorikakos was appointed as the new Minister of Development, replacing Kostas Skrekas. Thodoris Livanios was promoted to Minister of the Interior, while the late Niki Kerameos was appointed head of the Ministry of Labor in place of Domna Michailidou.
Changes in the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food as well, with Lefteris Avgenakis leaving and Kostas Tsiaras appointed in his place, in order to continue managing the effects of Daniel and Elias seamlessly. Nikos Panagiotopoulos replaces Dimitris Kairides at the Ministry of Immigration. The current secretary general of the Parliament Giorgos Mylonakis enters as deputy minister in addition to the Prime Minister.
Among the new deputy ministers, Christos Dimas replaces Haris Theoharis in the position at the Ministry of Finance, while Zoi Rapti returned to the government as deputy minister of Development.
Kostas Giulekas, an elected Member of Parliament in the First Thessaloniki since 2000, takes over as Deputy Minister of the Interior in charge of Macedonia-Thrace Affairs, in place of Stathis Konstantinidis.
Vassilis Spanakis moved from Deputy Minister of Labor to the Ministry of the Interior, while Katerina Papakosta took the position of Deputy Minister Maria Kefala in the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.
Vassilis Oikonomou was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christina Alexopoulou, also from KO, specifically Eastern Attica.
Iason Fotilas was appointed the new Deputy Minister of Culture, while in the place of Yiannis Pappa in the Ministry of Shipping, Stefanos Gikas. In the Ministry of Rural Development, Christos Kellas replaced Stavros Keletsis, while Kostas Karagounis returned to the government as Deputy Minister of Labour.
Among those who have not moved are the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis, Nikos Dendias in the Ministry of Defence, Adonis Georgiadis in Health, as well as Thodoros Skylakakis in Environment and Energy, Michalis Chrysochoidis in Citizen Protection, in Justice George Floridis. Olga Kefalogianni remains in her position at the Ministry of Tourism, as well as Dimitris Papastergiou in Digital Governance, Vassilis Kikilias in Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
The ministerial staff around the Prime Minister in the Maximos Palace is stable, with Makis Voridis and Akis Skertsos as Ministers of State, Thanasis Kontogeorgis Deputy Minister in addition to the Prime Minister, as well as the government representative Pavlos Marinakis.
