Letter to the president of SYRIZA Stefanos Kasselakis with the peak points being “black money”, the closure of the newspaper “Avgi” and the dismissals, they sent 87 executives and members of the party.

The letter is also addressed to the secretary of the Central Committee, Rania Svigou.

Comrade President,
Comrade Secretary,

The result of the European elections obliges us to look at the data of the new reality that is taking shape in the country and to take the appropriate initiatives.

Despite the huge drop in ND percentages, SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance has strength and the progressive space as a whole did not strengthen, instead we had record abstention and the rise of the extreme right.

The large social majority, although they disapprove of the policies of the Mitsotakis government, do not see an alternative progressive proposal for governance. This imbalance in the political system is a democratic necessity to address.

The cooperation of the progressive forces is a majority social request and we are obliged to respond to this request, by forming a large progressive alliance, a front at the parliamentary and social level, which will win the ND in the next national elections, whenever they are held .

The role of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance must be leading in these proposals. That is why we need a discussion in our party both about the election result and about the parliaments that need to be analyzed. Party members and friends must make the final decisions
At the same time, divisive tactics, firings, and targeting executives for voicing their decision are far removed from a democratic party’s culture of dialogue.
Likewise, it injures our space to suddenly open, publicly and with hints, a debate about ethics and transparency in SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, which has no merit, at a time when there should have been a fierce opposition to the government of the New Democracy and when in fact such important parliamentary work is produced. We should be proud of the fact that our party does not owe a single euro to the banks, has always served in the act of transparency and was independent of financial interests.
At the same time, it is not possible to take such critical decisions for the rationalization of the party’s media, which employ workers, of a historical nature for the Left, such as the suspension of the daily newspaper Avgi, without being discussed in some collective body.

All these critical issues, the signatories and the signatories, MPs and members of the Central Committee of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, will raise at the meetings of the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee of the party, bodies that essentially remained inactive for the entire previous period. This dictates that the meeting of the Central Committee must be held immediately and twice to give the opportunity to place all the members of the Central Committee.
