The composition of the Health Think Tank was announced by SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance which, he says, is staffed by doctors and nurses with experience in both combat medicine and medical research and the administration of health facilities.

The Think Tank The SYRIZA-PS Health Committee consists specifically of Stergios Kaidas, Eleni Haratsi Giotakis, Dimitris Papadimitriadis, Konstantinos Ritis, Efstathia Chronopoulou, Giorgos Germanidis, Christos Rokos, Konstantinos Koufatzidis, Dimitris Papamichail.

Here are brief biographies:

Stergios Kaidas

He studied Physics at EKPA and received a scholarship from I.K.Y. in Great Britain in Medical Physics. (M.Sc. Medical Physics.) Gained hospital experience in Great Britain, NHS and then engaged in hospital design related to Medical Practice and in particular Biomedical technology with scope for a number of University and General Hospitals and specialized projects such as the 50-bed ICU unit that was donated by the Parliament to G.N. Salvation. Several technologies that he adopted first, helped to save resources and clinical organization of hospitals.

Eleni Haratsis Giotakis

Doctor Pathologist-Diabetologist. She was professor of Pathology at the Nursing School of the University of Ioannina.

He served as an ESY doctor at the University Pathology Clinic of Ioannina and worked on the establishment and creation of the ESY.

He has written work on the prevention of chronic diseases such as Diabetes, Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia.

She has 145 international references (Citations /ISI)) in her scientific work. She is the lead researcher in 5 funded research and scientific programs. He has prepared 51 publications in international journals with two awards.

Dimitris Papadimitriadis

He studied Medicine at the University of Crete and International Health Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE). He specialized in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in London (at the Royal Free Hospital and UCL School of Medicine) and further in Athens (at the Evangelismos General Hospital and the Research University Institute of Mental Hygiene).

He is a regular member of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association and has been secretary general of the European Union of Medical Students and president of the Scientific Association of Medical Students of Greece.

He has written books on anxiety and depression, gives talks, is a media commentator and writes regularly in the press to raise awareness of mental health issues and major social issues.

His action has been recognized with praise by the Scientific Society of General Medicine, the Panhellenic Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations and the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, while he has been honored with the “Civil Society” award by the editors of Hellenic Radio and Nikita Lionarakis.

Konstantinos Ritis

Professor of Pathology at the Department of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace. He studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1975-1981) and holds the specialties of Pathology and Hematology. He is the director of the 1st University Pathology Clinic of PGN Alexandroupoli and the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology. He has been serving the public health system for 40 years, at the hospital level, from various positions of responsibility. He has been active for 30 years in translational medicine and research, with a focus on innate immunity and related diseases. He described for the first time (2006) at a global level, a mechanism of immune thrombosis in a human clinical model. His further continuous research in the field of immunothrombosis bore fruit during the pandemic period and we have proven to contribute internationally to the formation of the way of thinking, understanding and dealing with COVID-19. He is included in the top 2% of Stanford University’s list of top researchers.

Efstathia Chronopoulou

He studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge, completing his Pediatric residency at the London Deanery and his Pediatric subspecialty in Endogenous Metabolic Disorders at Evelina and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospitals, London. From 2013 until today she is the director of the Pediatric Clinic at the University Children’s Hospital of Bristol, specializing in Endogenous Metabolic Disorders. Alongside the daily medical practice, she writes scientific articles and studies on a regular basis, participates as a speaker at national and international medical conferences, participates in clinical studies and trials and has a close collaboration with patient organizations. He has many years of experience in the financial management of the English Health System at all levels with a particular focus on rare disease and orphan drug funding streams.

George Germanidis

He studied at the Medical School of the Kapodistrian University of Athens. He trained in Gastroenterology at the Department of Hepatology and Gastroenterology of the Twelfth University of Paris and at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Henri Mondor University Hospital, under the direction of Professor Daniel DHUMEAUX, president of the French Scientific Society for the Study of the Liver. He worked at the “PAPAGEORGIOU” G.N.Th until March 2007 and from March 30, 2007 as supervisor of the 1st NHS Gastroenterology, at the 1st Pathology Clinic of A.P.Th, P.G.N.Th.AHEPA. In 2022, he was elected to the rank of Professor of Gastroenterology, AUTH, a position he holds until today. He received a total of 7 Panhellenic awards for research activity. My total scientific activity is reflected in 104 full scientific papers.

Christos Rokos

Head and Neck Surgeon. Scientific associate of the First University ENT Clinic at AHEPA Hospital. With postgraduate specialization in Medical Research Methodology. Member of MENSA.

Konstantinos Koufatzidis

He is a dentist and a physician, a graduate of both departments of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), with postgraduate studies in Epidemiology and the Organization and Administration of Health Services. He is a specialized oral and maxillofacial surgeon (maxillofacial surgeon), an elected member of the General Assembly of the Hellenic Dental Federation (EOO), while he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Piraeus Dental Association (2022-2024). He has worked for a number of years as a dentist in the private sector, while at the same time he has experience in vulnerable social groups such as the homeless (Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens) and prisoners (Special Health Center for Prisoners of Korydallos). He has developed a rich social activity by organizing blood donations and preventive visits to schools, while during the first wave of the pandemic he volunteered his services to the National Health Service.

Dimitris Papamichael

She is a nurse-epidemiologist and works as a Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of Public Health Policy (former National School of Public Health) of the University of West Attica. He graduated with honors from the Department of Nursing of the EKPA, he holds two master’s degrees in “Organization and Management of Health Services” and “Public Health”, and an honors doctorate in epidemiology from the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, he worked as coordinator of the syndromic surveillance program at KEELPNO (now the National Public Health Organization), during the refugee crisis he collaborated with the International Organization for Migration while maintaining a long-term scientific collaboration with the Child Health Institute. He teaches epidemiology and research methodology at postgraduate level in the medical schools of Athens and Thessaloniki and has taken part as an instructor in recognized European educational programs in the field of epidemiological surveillance and investigation of epidemics. He has participated, from positions of responsibility, in the conduct of national epidemiological studies and has a rich research and writing project with publications and announcements in Greek and international conferences focusing on primary health care, prevention of infectious diseases, vaccinations and health problems of vulnerable groups.
