“July brought bad news for the citizens of the country in terms of punctuality”, underlines in a statement the SYRIZA-PS.

Specifically, it states:

Increase in electricity tariffs which even reach 40% compared to June for green tariffs and with PPC recording an increase of 14% respectively. Citizens become the prey of any company that charges as they please and are completely unprotected. We wonder what excuse the government will find again? Is it the sunshine or the wind? When will he finally take action against profiteering and electricity prices?

• From 01/07/24 the government proceeded to an increase in VAT on coffee and non-alcoholic beverages, from 13% to 24%, with only take away remaining at 13%. Thus, the coffee from 3.5 Euros that cost until now will climb to 4 Euros, burdening the citizens even further.

• Icing on the cake is today’s announcement of monthly inflation, where Greece had the 2nd largest increase in the Eurozone with 1% and 5 times the average which is at 0.2%.

“The numbers prove what we have been saying for a long time. The government is doing absolutely nothing to protect the citizens from exactness and profiteering, instead it is doing everything to protect the profits of the country’s cartels,” the statement concluded.
